International veterinary nursing standards

The IVNTA has set out ‘Day One Competency Standards’ as a benchmark of essential clinical skills that it recommends all those practicing as small animal veterinary nurses / technicians meet. The IVNTA Day One Competency Standards can be read here.

In addition to this, several organisations publish national / regional standards for veterinary nurses / technicians practicing in that country or region. These standards will apply to all VNs / VTs working or wanting to work within that jurisdiction and may also be used as a guideline for countries / regions without published standards.
